You can enter the database in two ways: through a specific theme (food
processing, agro-ecological farming systems, etc.) or through the multi-theme
search.

Theme Access
For each theme, the available information covers the six previously mentioned
groups of records: "experiences and practices", "organisations
and resource persons", "equipment and technologies", "bibliographical
references", and "multimedia documents".
With the exception of the thematic and geographic glossaries that are
shared by all themes, each theme uses reference lists that are, for the
most part, specific to each theme (type of activity for organisations,
type of equipment, etc.). Similarly, some types of information are specific
to each theme, notably the fields used to describe experiences.
Multi-Theme
Access
This access mode allows users to search the ensemble of thematic databases
simultaneously, selecting all 6 folders or a selection of folders (users
can, for example, search for all the experiences in a given country in
all themes).
Since each theme functions independently using specific reference lists,
multi-theme searches are limited to those elements shared by all themes:
the thematic and geographic glossaries.
Choosing
Your Language: French or English
You choose your working language for the database at the InterDev home
page.
Currently only French and English are available.
The bilingual operations take into account the following elements:
- the user interface
(screens, messages, on-line help),
- the reference
lists (countries, keywords, fields of activity, etc.)
Each information
producer, however, works in his or her own language. The data entered
using the reference lists are automatically translated but the descriptive
information (organisation descriptions, experience analyses, document
summaries) are not translated and therefore appear in the language in
which they were entered into the database.
