Outside partners have three possibilities to use the tools developed in
the framework of InterDev:
join
the network,
exchange
information between their own information systems and the InterDev information
system, or
use the
InterDev tools outside of the InterDev framework.
Join
the Network
If they commit to
providing content to the information service, any organisation that works
in the field of sustainable development and wants to share its information
resources and benefit from the experiences of other organisations can
ask to join the InterDev network.
1) Joining the network is done within one (or several) of the thematic
groups that currently make up the service.
2) Any organisation or group of organisations with a common need to share
their practical experiences and know-how in the field of sustainable development
can develop a new theme within the information service and use the InterDev
tools. In this case, the new thematic group will have to get organised,
appoint a theme coordinator, and define its operating rules and the rules
governing collecting and treating information for the theme in question.
The new partners can join InterDev as network members or as relay organisations.
Relay organisations play a decisive role in furthering the expansion of
the service on national and regional levels. They are responsible for
identifying new participants, training them, and coordinating national
or regional exchanges. Compared with network members, the relay organisations
are able (or are developing the ability) to support and train other InterDev
partners in terms of technical capabilities and information management
skills.
Exchange
Information with the InterDev Database
InterDev wishes to promote links with other information systems in
the field of sustainable development. All organisations or networks of
organisations that wish to exchange data and/or establish bridges between
their information systems and the InterDev information system are invited
to contact InterDev in order to study the modalities for the exchange.
A data exchange module (developed using XML) is available to facilitate
this type of exchange.
Use
the InterDev Tools Outside of the InterDev Framework
Under certain conditions, the InterDev application may be provided
to groups of organisations that wish to implement information-sharing
systems in areas outside the scope of InterDev. In this case, these groups
will probably need to adapt the database for their use.
