Enda-Graf Senegal
environnement et développement du tiers-monde

About the Organisation
Created in 1975, ENDA GRAF Sahel is a component of the NGO ENDA Third World (Environmental Development Action in the Third World) and one of its largest fields of experimentation. It has thus developed work seeking alternatives to development, based on all the dimensions involved in factors of pauperisation, and optimisation of local initiatives. This research-action-training process conducted with populations has led it to redefine its intervention strategy and, in 1988, evolve into ENDA Sahel and West Africa (research action training groups) or ENDA GRAF Sahel. It has been an autonomous legal entity since 1993. Today, ENDA GRAF conducts action research in several West African countries: Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Benin, Mali, and Senegal. It also works in partnership with organisations, universities, and research institutes in Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. It maintains close relationships with Northern partners and works in tandem with ENDA InterMondes and ENDA Prospectives Dialogues Politiques (Diapol) to seek global alternative development. Its privileged orientations for action are natural resource and land management, optimisation of popular economy (from micro and small enterprises to commodity chains), promotion of the development of alternative health, education, and alternative training systems, social communication and popular information, and local governance and citizen democracy.
